The “Yearly” Update?

I honestly wish I knew why this domain is only ever looked at once a year. Maybe it has something to do with the auto-renewal, or maybe it’s my heart yearning to have the time to get back to my roots.  Life has completely taken over and all forms of ‘social media’ that aren’t 100% work related have pretty much taken a back seat. I’m still actively involved in Web Development, so much so that I have no drive or ability to maintain my own stuff. I don’t know how it’s possible to look at WordPress, Dreamweaver & Photoshop on a daily basis and not have some kind of inspiration to do something for myself but clearly coding for clients has sucked the inspiration well dry. On the home front, the last time I actually updated here I was in…

Keep on keepin’ on…

I’m not going to lie, I think the only reason this domain is still around is based on the fact that I keep it on auto-renewal. The problem with that is I have a tendency to completely forget it’s even here. I’ve actually been blogging more on krissy.nu lately, but that’s due to all of the random personal things going on that I just need an outlet for.  I’m still working hard via AGn Designs, work has out-weighed anything I’ve wanted to do with this domain. There’s a few PSD’s put together for new themes, and I’ve even been tempted to pay someone to code them for me because I’ve been too busy working for other people. Knowing that I’m a control freak when it comes to code… that’s just not going to happen. So for now this domain will…

Times ticking down…

Things have been more than hectic lately, my biggest gripe about all of the pending work to complete is the fact that I’m  typically working in two different locations all day long. This is putting a damper on my ability to get things done by their deadlines due to the inability to just setup and go after I need to switch, it takes me a bit to get back on track due to other circumstances (not to be discussed).  Right now I’m in the process of designing an employment agencies site via wordpress for one client, a very detailed and customized mommy blog, an art portfolio and the outstanding one to trump them all I converting a rather large name company from html to wordpress. Sean and I worked to code the initial pages, but when we were given the…

State of the Word Address (Recap)

WordPress founder, Matt Mullenweg, has given the “State of the Word” address, which focused on the growth that the open source web software company saw in 2011. WordPress now powers 14.7 percent of the top million websites in the world, up from last year’s 8.5 percent. Additional data shows that WordPress is powering 22 out of every 100 new active domains in the U.S. Mullenweg also included information in his speech about a WordPress survey that was recently conducted. More than 18,000 people from all over the world responded to the survey. Their responses showed that 6,800 of them were responsible for over 170,000 websites, and received a median hourly rate of $50— making the unstable economy easier to deal with for independent developers and site administrators. Other topics touched on during the speech included information about the future of…

WordPress Membership Plugins for Affiliates

The wildly popular blogging platform and CMS WordPress is the host to dozens of affiliate marketing sites and blogs, but for some marketers, there is a desire to take their business to the next level by making it membership or subscription based, which means finding the WordPress membership plugin that is right for them. While there isn’t a huge market for WordPress membership plugins, there are a few that really standout as far as their capabilities and features go. Below is a list of ten of the top WordPress membership plugins available, and they range in price from totally free to about $200. Magic Members Don’t let the (I assume) unintended innuendo of the plugin’s name drive you away, because Magic Members is chock full of cool features that many plugins lack, and it is perfect for any type of…

WordPress 3.1.1 – Recommended Security Update

Popular self-hosted blogging platform WordPress received an update that brings it to version 3.1.1.  This version contains several important security fixes including two relating to the media uploader, an XSS flaw, and one that caused a PHP crash in certain conditions when handling “devilishly devised links in comments.” Keep in mind that failing to upgrade may leave your blog vulnerable to attacks. Current WordPress users should have already received notified about the update in their Dashboard. If not, or if you aren’t a user just yet, you can download WordPress 3.1.1 from the official website. Alongside the security patches come performance improvements, fixes for taxonomy and some permalinks, as well as various things that have been causing plugin compatibility issues.

Getting there…

I renewed this domain, even though I hardly use it the $9 a year to maintain it s fine by me. I couldn’t give up this domain no matter how much I really thought about it. There have been domains that I’ve lost interest in completely and just let it die – I can’t bring myself to do that here. I still haven’t started on the new template for this site so I’m going to ask something of any visitor that’s still floating around… If you happen to come across a free theme that blends well with the technology/business kind of a theme – please feel free to comment and send me a link towards it. Hell, if I like it enough I’ll even list you in the credits. I don’t have the time to float around blogs or template…

Awesome!

So I got pretty lucky.  I was able to figure out what was wrong with the old installation of WordPress.  I exported the posts and categories and now I’ve moved everything over to a new fresh installation and everything appears to be working just fine now.  I’m still going to have to work on a few things.  I have absolutely no new articles to write up.  I don’t currently have a theme setup either, and I’m going to have to do everything I get the plugins back up and running.  Either way I imagine it’ll take me a while to complete everything.  Maybe I’ll have some time this weekend where I can begin getting everything accomplished. So for now, this site is still on hiatus but as you can see – it’s been nothing but problems in order to get…
