Cliffside Malibu

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

Everyone knows that drug addiction is a major problem.  Living in the US, you only hear about the problems Nation wide, but in reality it’s a world-wide problem and these days it’s a part of almost every household.  I’m not saying that you’re 14 year old is smoking cocaine, but with the rise of addictive medication in house holds over the course of the last 20 years, I’m sure there’s something in your medicine cabinet that is magically starting to disapear, and you don’t quite understand why.  We’re living in a new age, it’s not about illegal narcotics – prescription medication is just as deadly if in the wrong hands.  Drug abuse puts an unworkable strain on America’s criminal justice system, America’s healthcare system and even America’s social services system.  Thousands of American’s die each year due to drug overdoses.  Parents, children, brothers, sisters, husbands and wives are all effected by these losses.

A resource that’s come to my attention recently has been Drug Rehab in Malibu.   Cliffside Malibu is a residential drug rehabilitation, alcohol rehabilitation, addiction treatment, and detox center located in Los Angeles, California.  Based on the images I’ve seen of this place, it’s not your run of the mill rehabilitation center.  It looks more like a vacation destination considering the gorgeous house on on wonderful property with a massive pool.  They’re focus is to cleanse your body of all of the drugs in your system and get you working towards living a normal and healthy life through diet and exercise.  It doesn’t stop there though, there’s also counseling and many other methods that have been used throughout rehabilitation centers all over the world.

If you live in the California area, they’re worth checking out.  If you don’t, and you or a loved-one needs help with any kind of an addiction, do a search through your local news paper, even if you just thumb through your phone book.  Trust me, you’ll find something to get all of the help available.

Cleaning Out

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

In preparation for the move, Sean and I have both been going through a lot of our things to lighten the load.  I personally think it’s easier to get rid of all of the unwanted items now, so they don’t take up room on the uhaul and need to “dealt with” while we’re in the process of unpacking everything.  As of right now, the office is going to be the bulk of our efforts because everything is housed in there, whether we realize it or not.  You don’t realize how much stuff you have until you start going through it all.  I’m going through quite a bit of paperwork from school.  I can’t tell you how many Term Papers and Research Papers in general that I did well on but have completely forgotten about over the course of the last few years.

With this paperwork being fresh on my mind, I went poking around the Internet to find a site where I could give my original papers to someone so that other students could use them as examples when writing theirs.  I only ever saved papers that received an A+/100% grade, so they aren’t just some random scribblings that were good enough to pass.  I was unable to locate anything but I did find MasterPapers.com, they’re a pretty solid resource if you’re interested in a Custom Term Paper.

Now, I’m not saying that you should depend on having someone else do your work for you but when you’re going after any kind of a degree, it’s hard to get all of the information you could need on the topic you need to write about.  It’s also close to impossible to balance multiple courses when each of them require a 1500 word essay as your final grade. It could really put a damper on things.  A site like masterpapers.com is there for those of you who really need a solid example of what a good paper is going to look like upon completion.

If you choose to submit an original essay, being as it’s written specifically for YOU then that’s your choice.  Just make sure you at least read over it in case a few questions come up from your professor.  Trust me, teachers are more computer savvy than you may realize.  I’m sure there are many sites like these on their lists.

HTP Internet Marketing & SEO

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Today I came across an Internet Marketing and SEO company that seems to be pretty good at what they can offer you. They offer a few different options. They’re an Advertising Company where you can Add Your Link or even Buy Text Links. Typically when I see SEO companies claiming to get you higher rankings on Google and just more hits in general, they typically have very low to non-existent ranking scores. As of right now this company is a PR6 which isn’t bad considering I’ve been working extremely hard just to maintain the PR5 that I have here. I’d kill to be a PR6 or even a PR7 for that matter but I know A LOT of work is involved there, and eventually everything I’m doing now will pay off.

Resources: fundeals4u.com

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

I just came across a site called fundeals4u.com. They offer some pretty sweet deals on everything from boating to electronics, outdoor equipment and tools. As far as electronics are concerned, they offer you everything from Furniture and Storage to Telephones. Since I’m the electronics junkie that I am, I found myself surfing around this particular category more than the others.

The other sections are loaded with everything one would need as far as Camping Equipment is concerned. I poked around the tents section based on the fact that Hubby is interested in taking me camping one day. I like to go overboard when it comes to sizing, which is probably the same reason as to why the bed we’ve just purchased is a King and the two of us could easily fit in the Queen. Instead of looking into two person tents I poked around the 3 person, just for the extra room. Right now there is an offer for a 3 person tent that weighs about 5 pounds. The center height of the tent is about 4 feet and it covers 48.2 sq ft as far as area is concerned, this should be more than cozy enough for the two of us. Its list price is about $280 but you can buy it from them for $162, that’s like $118 savings, how cool is that? A lot of the discounts I’ve seen are $50 and up and when it comes to a person on a budget, you can’t get much better than that.

The site itself could use a little bit of a template update, but this is coming from someone who’s very design conscious. It’s your basic e-Commerce driven site, but minus the template they certainly do get their point across with excellent pricing and larger graphics so you can really see what you’re looking into purchasing. I can’t tell you how many tiny images I’ve been through on other sites that have completely stopped me from making a purchase because I had no idea what things looked like without the zoom in option.

I did come across something rather cool while I was in my electronics search, the Brunton Solarroll 9. It’s used typically by those in nature who have items that need to be recharged, like cell phones and digital cameras, you can leave this waterproof 12″x40″ mat open and it comes with a max output of 9 watts so you can charge your products with the chords attached. It fits in a storage tube and only weighs about 10.6 ounces. Based on the description, it’s ideal for running satellite phones. So even in case of an emergency, you can still get the juice you need to get in touch with someone outside of the group to get the help you need.

Another thing that I’ve learned (and just too late at that) is a pair of headphones that I was looking into (somewhere in the $150-$200 range) are listed here for about $90. Based on the MSRP and their pricing, there’s a $135 difference and it’s safe to say I’m kicking myself in the pants for it because I don’t need them now…heh.

All in all it’s a very decent site, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Car Modification

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Knowing that we’re moving in upcoming months, with the loan amount we’re looking to receive, we’re also working on getting a new car. I’m not talking something brand new that’s coming right from the factory, something older than the ‘95 Beretta we have now. On top of that, in order to cut down on a lot of moving costs we’re considering a truck that we can just hitch a UHaul to and then go from there. Either way my interest in cars has been re-sparked, and my interest in car modification has also been surfaced.

I was poking around the web and came across DriveWire, they’ve been one of the leading online retailers of auto parts and accessories. Basically with everything from an Alignment Kit to an Eibach Pro Kit, specifically the Mustang Eibach Pro Kit considering my love of all things MUSTANG. They’re an authorized wholesale distributor of Eibach Springs. They have a HUGE inventory and fairly low prices, plus free shipping on top of that.

I don’t personally know much about cars. I’m fully aware of how to change a tire, but that was something I learned very young in life because while my father never had boys as children, he knew the importance of teaching girls, at a young age, how exactly to get out of a jam and take care of themselves. With this learning also came the ability to check fluids, change the oil and the basics of pumping gas and things like that. My sister, to this day, still can’t figure out how to get the gas cap off of her Cavalier. Which of course I think is a shame, but whatever. I know I can do it and we’re a few states away from each other so now she’s got to learn.

My love of Mustangs stemmed from this teaching. My father has had mustangs basically all his life until recently. His first new car was a ‘65 Ford Mustang Fastback. That joy was short lived because of a pretty nasty accident (thanks to a run-away drunk in a pick-up unfortunately) and since then he’s gone through a few ‘fix-ups’ here and there. Now he’s switched over to Jeep but it’s more practical considering it’s a daily car. If he ever was to pick up another mustang he’d want a classic that he can keep stored in a garage for weekend driving.

Hopefully one day I’ll be rich enough to give him that garage.

Future Vacation Plans

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Sean and I plan on taking quite a few vacations in our life together and one of them that we’ve been talking about is Royal Caribbean, or even just a Norwegian Cruise Line. I really like the idea of just soaking up the sun and enjoying nothing but beautiful scenery. The sound of water is so calming to me it’s unreal, and it’s something that to this day I’ve been unable to figure out. I figured spending time on the boat to get back to nature (to some degree) would really help me out in the long run.

Work From Home

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

I’ve been a Work From Home junkie for about four years now. I like the ability to be my own boss and make a decent living off of something that was once a hobby and has now turned into a full-blown career. There are many people also interested in working from home, but don’t have any training in the Web Design field, or any major computer knowledge in general. They believe filling out surveys for $50 a survey is actually going to bring in some cash. However, I don’t know ONE company that actually pays you for those things so to me, and many others, it’s nothing more than a scam.

Scrapbookers Dream!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I’m sure this topic isn’t limited to those in the scrapbooking world, but I honestly don’t know of a larger group of people who enjoy taking photography to such a personal level. Today I came across a resource that can easily turn your most prized photos into Photo Blankets. I know I’ve seen things like this before but I never actually thought that I’d be able to accomplish it with a photo of Sean and I or even turn Bella’s bed into her own personalized blanket, instead of the Princess one she sleeps on.

Boost hits, join directories

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

An important aspect of maintaining your website isn’t limited to original content and the joining of blogrolls. There are many other forms of free advertising that count as more of an incoming link than the JavaScript based blogroll you’ve recently joined with over 200 members. I know this seems a little odd, but trust me – I’ve done my research. Getting yourself linked onto Directories is always a great way of getting some hits to your website. On top of that, it also counts as an incoming link which will now help you with your PR/Alexa/Technorati – whichever rank you rely on at this point. A random example is the alive directory.

Looks can be deceiving…

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

For quite some time now I’ve been using the Internet as a pretty great form of income, working for myself is proving to be more difficult as time goes by depending on how good of a month I have. With that, I’ve decided to get back into school so I can earn my Bachelors and get myself a job with someone else’s company. Even with my background, I’m limited as to where I can work considering almost every place I’ve applied to requires some kind of an educational background, so much so that they don’t care very much about life experience at all, I don’t even think companies out of state would accept me at this point, so much for sending an email over to the owners of say California and arizona web design firms.

I narrowed it down to a few schools, based mainly on the fact that I’ve seen commercials for them on TV a few times and even a few reviews I read online were praising of these facilities. However, new resources has me rethinking this completely. I want my Bachelors in web design, and I assumed that the University of Phenoix would be a great place to go. I later find out that while they’re ‘teaching’ web design, there’s an outside source, PrimeView, that’s credited for actually working on their schools site. This has me questioning my enrollment in UoP but that final choice has also been made by another site I used called Rip Off Report.

So while I was easily side-tracked to these new people. I come to find out that this company really isn’t half bad. They cover everything from basic websites to the more advanced search engine optimization. I even took a look at their cool before and after gallery, had me really striving to get myself back on track. I don’t know why but looking at other web design companies always seem to bring me back on track to the point of being inspired to do better with myself so I can afford a nicer apartment, or maybe even a home if the loan ever comes through – heh.
