I’ve used quite a few plugins in the past with WordPress to help guard myself against spam. What I was unaware of, stupidly enough, was the fact that a lot of the spam I’ve been receiving goes directly to the database, and doesn’t even pass through my inbox it seems.
I’ve been doing work on a website for one of my clients, and I noticed they followed a trend with their email address that I’ve seen a lot. They were getting lots of spam at their contact email address, i.e. firstname.lastname@example.org, so they replaced it with email@example.com as a last ditch method to stop the avalanche of spam.
