California?

I’m flipping through channels at the moment, finding something on TV at night is a difficult task at times.  The running theme is advertisements for California.  Now, I don’t know if they’re losing money in Hollywood but they’re really trying to increase tourism for some reason.  I haven’t been out there since I was about a year old, and I don’t know if I’ll ever make it out there again. I do know that Sean is currently programming a social networking site for a man out there, he’s itching to get us out there to visit.  I’m sure we will some day, just not sure of it at this point.  I doubt I’m ever going to step foot onto a plane though, that scares the bejesus out of me. It’s unfortunate…

I recently received a message on myspace from an old high school friend of mine.  She went through the whole “How have you been?” routine, letting me know that she had some important news for me and felt bad that she had to get back in touch with me this way.  She then went on to say that a mutual friend of ours from high school has passed away due to a drug overdose.  She apologized for losing touch and coming out of the blue with information like this but she also wanted to make sure that she told me with enough time to spare for me to come back to New York if I chose to pay my respects to the family.  I told her to send my love to everyone based on the fact that it just wasn’t…

Consumer Reviews – Not Helping Me!

I’m doing some poking around BestBuy.com in search for reviews on a few different televisions that Sean and I are interested in.  We know for sure that we’d like an LCD HDTV in the living room, I’ve settled upon a 32″ knowing that it’ll be more than large enough for the two of us considering the largest TV in the house at the moment is a 27″ but since that’s in the office I hardly ever get to watch it.  I have a 20″ for the bedroom and that’s staying where it is, more than likely getting one just like it for the new office and calling it a day.  The bump in the road is which TV to choose for the living room.  I know that in the end we’ll have to go there and actually look at the…

Interested in working from home?

I’m not sure if many people would agree, but if you’re anything like me – you enjoy working from home. The idea of earning money without having to get out of your PJ’s, the way many celebrities seem to do it, is a good feeling. Now, I’m not saying that you have to quit your job and try this but if you’ve been considering it then I’ll tell you that it takes a lot of hard work and even more dedication than it would if you were in an actual office setting. Many people think that working from home means you can slack off all day and if you skip a few days you don’t have to answer to anyone about it. The problem is that many people who go from working 40 hours a week at the office go…

Flipping

I’ve been doing some flipping through this months issue of Laptop Mag and I came across an article called “How to Manage Your To-Do List Digitally”.  I’ve always been a fan of post-it notes but that’s based on the fact that I’m an organizational freak. The one that stood out the most for me is the Outlook 2007 To-Do Bar.  It’s $109 at Staples. Their review is as follows: What We Like – We love that Outlook 2007  displays your to-do list and upcoming events alongside your mailbox, an ingenious consideration for people likely to receive invitations and assignments via e-mail.  Users can also enter tasks directly into the to-do list.  And unlike any widget we’ve seen, the To-Do bar automatically prioritizes tasks due by date, creating seperate lists for assignments due in a week and those with more distant…

Business Christmas Cards

Even though Halloween hasn’t even hit yet, stores around the area are already overloading the shelves with Christmas related items. Everything from big blow-up lawn ornaments to decorations in general, there isn’t a corner that you can turn in Walmart that has anything Halloween related except for one small isle in the store. I find this to be a bit absurd but everyone seems to just hop right over the ‘small’ holidays and go straight to the money maker that is Christmas. It’s unfortunate from a personal standpoint considering I enjoy the “small” holidays much more than the large ones, but at the same time I can see where businesses are coming from, from a financial standpoint. Sean plans on taking a lot of pictures throughout our relationship and knowing that I get the general Christmas greeting cards every year…

Moving forward

I picked up the loan on Monday.  It was quite a birthday gift to see that many zero’s on a check with my name on it.  We drove back to DE last night and deposited the check this morning.  It should be cleared by tomorrow and hopefully by this weekend we’ll be on our way to Ohio.  By next weekend I hope that we’ll be home owners and just packing up to get out of here. I have a lot of shopping to do once things get rolling, thankfully I have a few gift cards that I can use to get things started.  There’s a blanket I found in Target that’s about $60.  It’s an alternative down comforter, that should help Sean out quite a bit with his allergies.  After that it’s little odds and ends.  I don’t plan on…

Home Improvements

I may be doing a little too much planning ahead on this home ownership deal but is it really so wrong that I’d like to have everything I’m looking for in a home? I do have to live there, so it’s not like I’m going to live someplace that I absolutely hate, you know? So I’ve been poking around the Internet for a few design ideas, everything from furniture to garage conversions and windows for that matter.  I came across Anglian Homes, which seems like a great resource for all Home improvements, so I floated around a little.  The company is based in the UK and they basically cover everything.  They’ve been around since the 1960’s and based on some of the pictures I’ve seen on their site they do some GORGEOUS work.  I’d die to get a home makeover…

XBOX 360 Mic Malfunction

I’ve kind of taken over Sean’s computer because my laptop is acting up on me.  He’s playing Halo 3 so it really isn’t a big deal anyway.  He’s having some trouble though, his microphone is acting up.  One second the other players can hear him, the next they can’t.  Now he can hear them but the microphone is like non-existent on the headset itself so he’s basically talking to himself.  It’s not abnormal behavior for him because everyone mumbles to themselves at one point but it’s starting to annoy him because he can’t even talk to his own team mates, he can hear them but he’s usually the front-runner on the matches he plays – he can’t even inform anyone of a bomb in a certain area. Poor thing Technorati: Halo 3, XBox 360

I (think) I can handle it…

While I know that I’ll be moving soon, part of me (deep down) wonders if I’ll be able to handle it.  I’ve moved before, so this really isn’t a big deal to me but up until this point I’ve lived under someone elses roof.  I’m now moving into something that’s entirely my own and I wonder how I’m going to take it. My real issue is the fact that I’m going to have a few thousand dollars and want to spend it on things that I’m not sure I really need.  Yes, I’m going to need to furnish the place and stock up the kitchen with pots, pans, dinnerware, flatware, some bakeware and definitely a coffee pot.  But I’m more concerned about how I’m going to react walking into Best Buy and fighting myself from purchasing an oh-so-lovely 42″ HDLCD…
